This giveaway is sponsored by CSN Stores, an amazing website that carries everything from dutch ovens to doggie beds at hugely discounted prices.
I’m fully convinced that the only things you need to cook are a heat source, a pan, and a good knife. I got through college (and Bobby got through much of his adult life…) with nothing but a cheap Chinatown cleaver. At around $10 apiece, they’re an economical tool for cutting up greens, slicing tofu, and hacking away at meat, but damn they’re heavy! My hands get super tired after a few minutes of shredding mushrooms, especially after the blade starts getting dull (usually about a week after purchase…hah).
After I moved back to California, my parents gifted me with an amazing Zwelling JA Henckels santoku knife. Using this thing is a freaking dream! It’s lightweight and easily maneuverable, and it’s so sharp that it nearly leaves dents in my wooden cutting board!
This week, Bobby and I are partnering with CSN Stores to give away one Zwilling JA Henckels International Forged Premio 7″ Santoku Hollow Edge Knife!
You can get up to four entries into the randomized drawing.
- In the comments, tell us about something delicious that you made recently!
- Take a picture of it and upload it to the Cooking to Procrastinate Flickr pool.
- Tweet about our giveaway. We have a handy Tweet button right above the comments to make it easier. :)
- Post about it on Facebook. There’s also a Facebook button now.
For each entry, please post a separate comment telling us what you did. For example, if you submitted a picture and tweeted in addition to telling us what you made, you’d need to post three comments to get your three entries! Also, you can only enter once for each point; you can’t get four entries by posting four times about different dishes you made.
The deadline to enter is Monday 10/11 at 11:59 PM EST. We’ll post the winner and all of your wonderful pictures on Tuesday! We’re super sorry to our international readers, but this giveaway is only open to residents of the US and Canada.
Go and get procrastinating! :D
Update: Please try to post a photo on our flickr pool as well as commenting! We would love to post your photos on a follow up post. Also, for each tweet and facebook post you will get another entry so you can have four entries total. But we won’t know who tweeted/facebooked unless you put a comment for that as well. Thanks for helping us shamelessly promote this blog! -bobby
I made Jamie Oliver’s Chorizo & Potato Omelette. Fast, easy, good source of protein and potassium. Lemon juice and shallots give it a nice flavor. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/jamie-oliver/potato-and-chorizo-omelet-with-a-kinda-parsley-salad-recipe/index.html
I made pumpkin spice pancakes and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!! I got a big ol’ can of pumpkin, so I had overload lately.
I made some delicious steamed, white rice. I followed an ancient Chinese recipe passed down through from generation to generation. The secret ingredient? Water.
I posted a photo of my pizza pasta on Flickr.
I posted about your contest on Facebook.
My Mom tweeted about it on my behalf, on her yoga-centric Twitter: http://twitter.com/ayogist
so do we give your mom the knife if this post is the winning draw? ;)
My mom doesn’t cook (AT ALL), so she’s relinquishing the knife to me in the event that she wins. :)
I made the most AMAZING baked Mac and Cheese from a box of scooby doo mac-n-cheese last week (yes, I was being fancy).
Not to promote my blog or anything, but hereʻs the recipe

This weekend I made a delicious vegan Chickpea Noodle Soup — a perfect soup to combat the cold New England sea-breeze. Also made toasty garlic bread to go with, and followed it with vegan s’mores (with peanut butter)! Perfect end-of-summer (ok fine, it’s officially fall now, I GUESS) evening!
Flickr’d!
Revolutionary Spanish Omelet from Isa Moskowitz’s “Vegan with a Vengeance.” Made with blended tofu, saffron, potatoes, and baked to a crisp in a cast-iron pan. Even better when served with hot sauce, grilled veggies, and a big helping of fresh bialetti moka-espresso! (no pictures of the assembled meal, sorry! Went straight to the gullet)
Hi! I received the link to this post through your friend Radhika, and I just posted my picture of Butternut Squash Risotto on the flickr page. I’ll be posting the recipe on my blog this week, but you can also find it on Food Network.com (Ina Garten). Great giveaway!
Hi! I also received the link from Radhika. I made Beef Bulgolgi, which was delicious: marinate beef in soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and a little chopped apple and onion. Delicious =) Also posted on faceboook!

Hi guys! I facebooked, and uploaded a picture of pasta primavera I made. It was super-good.
I also uploaded a picture on my roommate, Grace’s behalf – she doesn’t like giving out her contact info but she made a *delicious* Thai-inspired coconut-vegetable chowder with herbed rice. She was hoping her picture could count as her entry even though she had me upload it. =)
