Loco Moco

10 Dec

Ever since I joined Phi Sig I’ve been exposed to cuisines from Hawaii. One of my favorite dishes was a midnight meal the hawaiian brothers would make often – the loco moco. I’m sure this isn’t as authentic, having gone through two steps of a recipe being passed around, but this is my version of the loco moco.

Loco Moco

1 hamburger patty or 1/4 lb ground beef
1 egg
1/2 cup cooked rice
1/2 cup gravy

Form beef into a patty and cook in a skillet until medium.
Cook an egg sunny side up – oil a skillet (or just use the skillet used to cook the hamburger) and cook on low heat until the egg white is no longer runny. Do not flip.
Heat the gravy either in the microwave or in a sauce pan.
Layer the loco moco as follows: a bed of rice, the hamburger patty, the sunny side up egg, then cover in gravy.
